This session encourages you to slow down and work intentionally with a single focal length. By limiting your gear, you'll develop stronger composition skills, improve your ability to “see” framing before shooting, and gain confidence in positioning yourself relative to your subject.

We'll cover practical techniques for using a 50mm lens effectively, including depth of field control, subject isolation, and working in a variety of lighting conditions. There will be guided shooting exercises and opportunities for feedback throughout.

This meetup is suitable for all skill levels and is ideal for photographers looking to refine their technique by working with a simple, powerful setup.

ARTISTS
Thomas Guadalupe
Thomas Guadalupe was born in North Carolina. He graduated with a M.A. from the Fontbonne University in St-Louis Missouri in 2024. He began studying painting as a self-taught artist and deepened his research in academia style painting, from the beginning of the sixteenth century to the end of the nineteenth century; in particular, he devoted himself to painting under the study of Victor Wang. He began creating ceramic sculptures as well in his time there, focusing most of his work towards the human figure.

Thomas's paintings breathe life into the canvas, each telling its own story with vibrancy and depth. His artistry extends beyond the canvas to ceramics rich with personal and worldly narratives, and anatomy studies that honor the human form. At the heart of it all is a dedication to capturing life's essence and inviting viewers into his creative world

Thomas Guadalupe is available for private bookings

I am free 9am to 6pm Mondays through Saturdays.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
